College counseling: grade 12
For grade 12 students, I help them with all aspects of the application…
What I do
- Help students to identify potential majors and goals
- Help students to develop a college list, which is a good match for their academic goals/plans, and is realistic for their academic profile
- Assist students with compiling an Activity List
- Take students through the Personal Statement writing process — provide example essays, help with brainstorming and drafting essays
- Support with writing school-specific supplemental essays
- Provide guidance on asking for recommendation letters
- Other admissions strategy advice as needed
What I don’t do
- Write students’ application materials (essays, activity lists, etc) for them
- Ghost-write recommendation teachers’ letters for students
- Work with students who want to fabricate, cheat, or lie about any part of their application, transcript, test scores, or other credentials
- Guarantee admission to any university
- Provide any sort of “back door” or “insider connection” to any university
- Give unrealistic advice/guidance about the admissions process
